SAT Subject Test

SAT Subject tests are hour-long exams that allow you to demonstrate your achievement in a specific subject area. Many colleges require one or two SAT subject test scores as part of the admission process. You may choose the tests that best express your skills, interests, and readiness for specific programs at a college or university. Some colleges use the SAT Subject test scores to place students into appropriate course levels once you are enrolled at the school. High scores on the SAT Subject tests may even help you fulfill basic course requirements or receive college credit for intro-level courses.

SAT Subject tests may be taken during any year of high school. It is smart to plan ahead, and sign up to take a Subject test immediately after taking the course in high school. For example, if you are interested in taking the SAT Subject test in Biology, and you are taking Biology during your sophomore year of high school, you should take the Subject test at the end of your sophomore year when Biology is fresh in your mind.
